A two –day National Conference on Mental Health: Role of Education is being organized by GES College of Education and Research, Mumbai in association with Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai and Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine, Mumbai Branch during October 1-2, 2011 at parel, Mumbai

Mental health is a universal phenomenon as it affects modern and industrialized as well as developed society equally. Mental health has various manifestations in the form of mind problem of headaches to violent and extreme problem such as rape, molestation, child abuse, drug, suicide etc .these manifestations leads to an imbalanced individual and ultimately to an unbalanced family and society .There should be acceptance, tolerance and public  awareness through education .Role of education :through education one can encourage awareness and application of mental health, Knowledge in general  health care social development and accessibility of minimum in general health care social development and accessibility of minimum  health care. Dissemination of information is becoming more important as it seems that the knowledge and information provides effective feedback .Loops between the various factors should be facilitated. Main objective of the Conference include:

• To initiate the dialogue among the various stakeholders in education
  • To identify the strategies to ensure  mental health in education
  • To understand the role of National Mental Health Programme
  • To share various models  of mental health promotion in Indian
